k...i know john is officially home...but i really wanted to finish what i started. so...here's the final two blogs for john...except now they're mostly for posterity's sake...and my soon-to-be-realized scrapbook pages.

the number of times elijah spit up on himself: eight
the number of times those eight spit ups ended up on momma too: eight (lovely)

the number of outfits worn: five. seriously.
time spent naked: one hour

time spend on tummy: two twenty minute sessions.

minutes wasted waiting at walgreens for gramma's ridiculously expensive medications: 46.5
dollars spend on gramma's ridiculously expensive medications: $500 and change. ouch. but at least i got some chex mix and a back massage (they had one of those chair massagers in the waiting area) out of it...

number of candles on cousin jackie's birthday cake: fifteen

number of paper towels used to clean cake off cousin's face: three

some other random numbers from the day:

diapers changed: ten (eight cloth, two disposable)
naps taken: three and a half
minutes spent eating: forty-five...give or take

good morning sunshine!

walked to starbucks this morning with migie (sorry...no pics. i forgot the camera). good times.

hanging out in the swing leads to...

...falling asleep in the swing (btw...this is a total john face!)

lunch was at baja fresh. i had beans for the first time...we'll see how elijah does. keep your fingers crossed! (i'm in the reflection in the window...)

searching for the perfect vino at cost plus...

waiting for grams...she always takes too long! (love that the "boobie" (see previous post for details) toy is sitting on his shoulder...so cute!)

trying out the jumperoos at babies r us. wasn't too sure in the beginning...

...but started to warm up to it after a bit. not much jumping though...he still needs to get the hang of that. mostly just sucking on fingers...as usual.

isn't it perfect? i think we need to get it. not only is he super cute in it...but it'd be so handy! he could sit in it on the counter while i brush my teeth! whatd'ya think?

insert little story here. while we were at babies r us, i was holding elijah the entire time cuz he was completely tired of the carseat (can you blame him?). but when we were checking out...of course he had to go back into the seat. before i even had a chance to buckle him in...he was asleep! no paci...no fussing... just closed his eyes and that was that. so cute!

elijah wasn't too fond of being left out of the action...so he joined us for dinner. yum!

one more story before i sign off and head to bed. when we were pulling into the driveway after our shopping excursion...i noticed your red truck sitting in its usual spot. wanna know what my first thought was?
"oh yay! john's home!"
you have no idea the sadness that consumed me upon realizing that you really weren't home...that you're thousands of miles away...and that you won't be home for another three days.
sadness.
pure, undiluted sadness.

(ps. don't forget it's your niece's birthday tomorrow. she'd prolly appreciate a phone call.)

not a lot of pictures today...i got lazy...plus it was raining. don't know why but that seems like a good reason. as good as any anyways.

sweet baby sleep. elijah fell asleep next to me after his six am feeding. without his paci too!

grams lets him watch tv! so spoiled!

at the scrapbook store. doesn't he look thrilled? like father, like son i guess.

lunch at the bakery in mchenry village. yum! of course, elijah slept through the whole thing. (notice the new outfit? he had a bit of a blowout at the scrapbook store. something about sitting in the carseat and explosive poops.)

the new toy from grams. he loves that thing! i call it the "boobie ball" (not in public of course)...ha!

the rest of the day was uneventful i guess...although he did get a bath and cried through the entire thing. it was only after i got him in there that i realized he was probably hungry. poor baby.

to my love...a brief (or not so brief as the case may be) portrait of our day.

baby woke momma up at the usual time...7ish. downstairs we went for some breakfast (after a diaper and clothes change of course) and some tummy time!

after some tummy time and a little play time with momma...it was time to go for a walk! baby got bundled cuz it was a bit chilly...


we walked to i roast for you where momma got a chai latte. only the dude made it so hot that momma couldn't drink it and ended up pouring most of it out. even the little bit that she left in the cup still spilled when she was pushing the stroller up the overpass (on the rocky bit). momma got kind of annoyed since she spent $3.40 and didn't even get to enjoy the latte. bummer.

the spill and it's carnage.

then it was nap time since baby didn't sleep on the walk. he didn't sleep much at naptime either...so momma decided it was time to go for a little car ride...

...to target to buy some diapers. cuz even though we're using cloth...we still don't have enough to go around.
baby finally fell asleep on the way home. and even stayed asleep when momma put him in the crib.

he woke up a happy baby! but unfortunately...that didn't last very long. for some reason...


...baby decided to have an hour long crying jag.

no reason. at least not one that was apparent to momma. very frustrating for both involved parties (i seriously thought the neighbors were going to hear him he was so loud for so long...)

he finally calmed down though...

and momma and baby cuddled on the bed for a bit and missed daddy the whole entire time.

and then came the blowout of all blowouts. while baby was eating...he was also pooping...all over momma.

the culprit...a loose diaper. a mistake that will not be made again!

see the mess on the sheets? he also got the boppy pillow and momma's pants. good times.

after momma spend some good quality time in the laundry room, the little one got a bath. then it was time to try napping again. baby wasn't so much into napping...so he hung out with aunt and uncle and cousins while they enjoyed some yummy pizza plus pizza! what a great way to end a sunday.

after the pizza was all gone, momma and baby played outside for a few minutes (sorry...no pictures...i left my camera inside and was too lazy to go get it) and then it was nite-nite time for baby. momma stayed up a bit after baby went to bed...watching tv...folding clothes...getting her mom's bed ready...etc. momma finally fell asleep around ten...thinking the bed had never been so big...or so lonely.

miss you...hurry home to us!

11 things that are happening this moment:

• i am blogging. obvious i know...but worth mentioning
• elijah is sound asleep. so sweet. just wanna kiss him. don't know how much longer he's gonna last though. he's been sleeping for a while.

• laundry is tumbling around in the dryer. the clasps on elijah's overalls are so loud!
• eating my newfound favorite yogurt (safeway organic brand banana vanilla flavored) and rice a roni for lunch. great combo eh?

yes i took a picture of my yogurt. i love it that much. seriously. the best yogurt i've ever had. totally worth the $1 per container. yesh. definitely.

• missing john...but only just a little since he just left this morning. know i'll miss him more and more as each moment passes though...
• so excited that my mom is going to be here in less than 24 hours! woohoo! i hope everyone gets as excited as i do about seeing their moms...cuz really...moms are great.
• trying to figure out why my computer speakers don't work. totally annoying as i'm really craving some snow patrol right now.
• pictures are uploading onto my computer. some fun shots from this weekend and the beginning of my "day in the life of eli and momma" pics for john. obviously i can't post today's til tomorrow since today is not yet fully lived! be on the lookout for those though. lots of pictures...lots of fun.

• making a grocery/target list. trying to decide if i should go today or wait til my mom gets here and go tomorrow. decisions decisions.
• browsing http://twopeasinabucket.kaboose.com/default.asp. best scrapping site ever. love all their way cool scrappy stuff.
  
• still in my workout clothes from my walk this morning. kinda thinking i should change into something less...um...sweaty. yeah...think i'll do that before the babe awakes.
